Windows

.exe installer
โฌ‡ Download for Windows

Setup

  1. Open the downloaded file.
  2. Choose an install location (or use the default).
  3. Avery opens automatically when setup finishes.
You may see a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen. This shows up because the installer isn't yet registered with Microsoft's certificate program โ€” it doesn't mean anything is wrong. Click "More info", then "Run anyway" to continue.

Mac

.dmg ยท Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4)
โฌ‡ Download for Mac

Setup

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
  2. Drag the Avery icon into your Applications folder.
  3. Open Avery from Applications (see warning below).
macOS will say Avery is from an "unidentified developer." This is expected โ€” the app isn't (yet) enrolled in Apple's paid developer program. Don't double-click it the first time; instead, right-click (or Control-click) the Avery app โ†’ Open โ†’ Open again in the confirmation box. You'll only need to do this once.

Heads up on updates: unlike Windows and Linux, Mac won't auto-install future updates in the background. When a new version comes out, you'll need to come back to this page and redownload it the same way.

Linux

.AppImage ยท x86_64
โฌ‡ Download for Linux

Setup

  1. Right-click the downloaded file โ†’ Properties โ†’ Permissions โ†’ check "Allow executing file as program" (or run chmod +x Avery.AppImage in a terminal).
  2. Double-click it to launch โ€” no installer needed.
Some distros will ask for confirmation the first time an AppImage runs, since it isn't installed through your package manager. That's normal โ€” allow it to run.

Good to know

Do I need an account to use the desktop app?

Yes โ€” it's the same Avery account and data as the web/mobile version. Log in with the same email and password once it opens.

Do I need to be online?

Yes. The desktop app is a shell around the same live Avery service, so it needs an internet connection to work, just like the browser version.

Will I get future updates automatically?

Windows and Linux installs update themselves quietly in the background. Mac installs currently need to be redownloaded from this page when a new version is released (see the Mac warning above).
